The 7+ exam is for year 3 entry and exams take place in year 2. Although there is no standardised test for the 7+, many schools test English and Maths. Some also test reasoning or ask children to participate in an interview or group task.
English papers usually consist of a comprehension and composition task. Maths will usually be based on the year 2 syllabus but expect some challenging questions to be included on a typical paper. Some schools assess both verbal and non-verbal reasoning, while others choose to examine verbal, non-verbal or no reasoning at all.
